In a village, Sham and Ram were neighbors.
Sham was a poor farmer, while Ram was a wealthy landlord.
Although they lived next to each other, their lives were completely different.
Sham had very little money, but he was always relaxed and cheerful.
Ram owned many fields, houses, and animals, yet he was constantly worried about his wealth.
One evening, Ram asked Sham,
“You are poor, so why are you always so happy?”
Sham smiled.
“I have enough food to eat, a roof over my head, and people I love. What more do I need?”
Ram laughed.
“You don’t understand. If you had as much money as I do, you would never have to worry again.”
Sham replied,
“Perhaps. But you have so much money, and you still worry every day.”
Ram couldn’t answer.
That night, he couldn’t sleep because he was thinking about his land, his money, and the possibility of losing everything.
The next morning, he saw Sham working happily in his small field.
Ram finally understood something important.
Having more does not always mean having more happiness.
Sometimes, being grateful for what you already have is the greatest wealth of all.
