A businessman was interviewing applicants for the position of manager of a large division.
He quickly devised a simple test to find the most suitable candidate.
He asked each applicant the same question:
“How much is two plus two?”
The first applicant confidently answered,
“Four.”
The businessman thanked him and called in the next candidate.
The second applicant thought for a moment and said,
“Twenty-two.”
The businessman raised an eyebrow but thanked him.
Finally, the third applicant entered.
The businessman asked the same question.
“How much is two plus two?”
The applicant looked around the room, closed the door, and whispered,
“How much would you like it to be?”
The businessman smiled.
“You’re hired.”
The applicant looked surprised.
“Really? Why?”
The businessman replied,
“Because you understand management.”
