A firefighter was working on the engine outside the station when he noticed a little boy next door playing with a little red wagon.
The wagon had a tiny ladder hanging off the side and a garden hose tightly coiled inside it.
The firefighter smiled and asked,
“What are you doing, young man?”
The boy proudly replied,
“I’m a firefighter!”
The firefighter laughed.
“That’s wonderful! What kind of fire are you going to put out?”
The boy pointed toward his house.
“My dad is sleeping, and I’m going to wake him up!”
The firefighter looked concerned.
“Why do you need all that equipment to wake your dad?”
The boy grinned.
“Because Mom said if I don’t wake him up, she’ll set the house on fire!”
The firefighter froze.
Then he slowly backed away.
“I think,” he said, “you should let your mother handle this one.”
The little boy nodded seriously.
“Good idea. She’s much scarier than a fire.”
