A soldier, a sailor, and an airman were sitting together enjoying a drink when they began discussing the greatest technological inventions of the modern world.
“The laser,” said the soldier confidently. “It’s incredibly precise and powerful.”
“The submarine,” argued the sailor. “It allows us to travel beneath the ocean where humans were never meant to go.”
The airman shook his head.
“The airplane is the greatest invention. It allows us to fly across the world in just a few hours.”
They continued arguing until the bartender finally interrupted.
“You’re all wrong,” he said.
The three men looked at him.
“Then what do you think is the greatest invention?”
The bartender pointed toward the bar.
“The refrigerator.”
They stared at him in disbelief.
“The refrigerator?” asked the soldier.
“Absolutely,” he replied. “Without it, where would you keep all the beer you’re drinking?”
The three men looked at their glasses.
The sailor raised his drink.
“I think he’s got a point.”
The airman laughed.
The soldier nodded.
“Forget the laser, the submarine, and the airplane.”
They all raised their glasses.
“To the refrigerator—the true hero of modern technology!”
