A journalist once asked Bill Gates, “Is there anyone in the world richer than you?”
Bill Gates smiled and replied, “Yes, there is.”
The journalist was surprised.
“Who could possibly be richer than you?”
Bill Gates then told him a story about a man he had met many years earlier.
The man had very little money, but he was incredibly generous and kind. Whenever someone needed help, he would give whatever he could—even when he didn’t have much himself.
One day, Bill Gates asked him why he was always willing to help others.
The man simply replied, “I may not have much money, but I have enough to share.”
Bill Gates explained that this man possessed something money could not buy: a generous heart and the ability to make other people happy.
The journalist understood.
“Then you believe he is richer than you?”
Bill Gates nodded.
“Yes. Wealth isn’t only about how much money you have. Sometimes the richest person is the one who has the most to give.”
The journalist smiled.
That day, he learned that true wealth cannot always be measured by a bank account.
