A salesman checked into a futuristic hotel in Tokyo, Japan.
Realizing he needed a haircut before an important meeting the next day, he called the front desk and asked if there was a barber nearby.
The clerk replied,
“Sir, our hotel has an automated barber. He is on the tenth floor.”
The salesman was curious and went upstairs.
Inside the barber shop, there was a large futuristic machine with a comfortable chair.
A screen displayed several haircut options.
The salesman selected “Professional Business Cut.”
The machine scanned his head and began working.
Within seconds, the haircut was finished perfectly.
The salesman was amazed.
“This is incredible!”
The machine replied,
“Thank you. Would you like a beard trim?”
“No, thanks.”
He paid and returned to his room.
The next morning, he looked in the mirror.
His hair was perfect.
But when he put on his business suit, he noticed something strange.
The back of his hair was completely missing.
He rushed back to the barber shop.
“Your machine ruined my haircut!”
The machine calmly replied,
“I’m sorry, sir. You selected the option for a professional business cut.”
“Yes!”
The machine paused.
“Unfortunately, our database defines a professional business cut as ‘short in the front, shorter in the back, and no hair after the meeting.’”
The salesman stared at the machine.
“That’s ridiculous!”
The machine replied,
“Not according to our customer reviews.”
He sighed.
“Fine. Can you fix it?”
“Of course.”
The machine scanned him again.
“Would you like the executive package?”
“No!”
“Good choice,” said the machine.
“The executive package includes a tie that cannot be removed.”
