A man was stuck in a terrible traffic jam. Cars weren’t moving, and everyone was getting impatient.
Suddenly, a man knocked on his window.
The driver rolled it down and asked, “What’s going on?”
The man replied, “Terrorists have kidnapped Congress. They’re demanding a huge ransom, or they’re going to pour gasoline over them and set them on fire.”
The driver looked shocked.
“What are people doing about it?”
“We’re going from car to car collecting donations.”
The driver reached into his wallet and pulled out some money.
“How much are people giving?”
The man smiled.
“Whatever they can spare.”
The driver handed him the money.
“Here you go. I hope this helps.”
The man looked at the cash and nodded.
“Thank you.”
Then the driver asked, “By the way, how much have you collected so far?”
The man smiled.
“Actually, I’ve collected quite a lot.”
The driver looked relieved.
“Good. Hopefully, they’ll let everyone go soon.”
The man nodded.
“That’s the plan.”
He walked away toward the next car, while the driver sat in traffic wondering why he suddenly felt like he had just paid to make the traffic jam disappear.
