An IT guy took his car to a mechanic because it wasn’t driving as fast as it used to.
The mechanic looked under the hood and asked, “What seems to be the problem?”
“It just doesn’t have enough speed,” the IT guy replied.
The mechanic nodded thoughtfully.
“Have you tried turning it off and on again?”
The IT guy stared at him.
“That’s what I tell everyone who calls me for computer problems!”
The mechanic smiled.
“Exactly. I’m just returning the favor.”
The IT guy laughed.
“Fine. But if that doesn’t work, what’s your next solution?”
The mechanic picked up his tools.
“Have you tried installing the latest driver?”
The IT guy burst out laughing.
“Okay, you got me!”
The mechanic smiled.
“Sometimes fixing computers and fixing cars isn’t so different after all.”
The IT guy started the engine.
It worked perfectly.
He looked at the mechanic in surprise.
“What did you actually do?”
The mechanic grinned.
“Nothing. I just unplugged the battery for thirty seconds.”
The IT guy shook his head.
“That’s basically a reboot!”
“Exactly,” said the mechanic. “Welcome to automotive technology.”
