A man was eagerly waiting for his son to return home after spending five years in prison.
He was curious about his son’s plans for the future.
One evening, they sat together, and the father asked,
“Son, now that you’re free, what do you want to do with your life?”
The son thought for a moment.
“I’ve decided to start a career.”
The father smiled.
“That’s wonderful! What kind of career?”
“I want to become a locksmith.”
The father looked surprised.
“A locksmith?”
“Yes. I learned a lot while I was in prison.”
The father nodded thoughtfully.
“Well, at least you have a useful skill.”
The son smiled.
“Exactly.”
The father looked at him proudly.
“I’m glad you’ve decided to start over and make an honest living.”
The son nodded.
“Thanks, Dad. Don’t worry. I’ve already got a five-year plan.”
The father smiled.
“That’s my boy!”
Then the son added,
“I’m just not sure what I’ll do after the first five years.”
The father frowned.
“Why not?”
The son grinned.
“Because that’s how long my training usually takes.”
