The Oldest Profession

Three friends—a bricklayer, a carpenter, and an electrician—were having a friendly debate about whose profession was the oldest.

The bricklayer smiled proudly.

“Our trade must be the oldest. Just look at the ancient pyramids and castles. Skilled builders created incredible structures thousands of years ago.”

The carpenter nodded but wasn’t convinced.

“That’s impressive,” he said, “but people needed wooden homes, furniture, and boats long before many of those great buildings existed.”

The electrician listened patiently before joining the conversation.

Both of them looked at him with puzzled expressions.

The bricklayer laughed.

“Electricity? That’s a modern profession!”

The electrician grinned.

“Maybe. But have you ever noticed that the first thing people do when the power goes out is call an electrician?”

The three friends burst into laughter.

The carpenter smiled.

“I guess every profession becomes the most important when people need it.”

The bricklayer nodded in agreement.

“That’s true. Every job has its moment.”

They raised their coffee cups together, happy to agree that every honest profession deserves respect.
