The Bird and the Cow

A little bird was flying south for the winter.

It was so cold that the bird became weak, froze in midair, and fell to the ground in a large field.

He lay there helpless and thought he was going to die.

While he was lying there, a cow came walking across the field.

The cow didn’t notice the little bird.

It stopped nearby and dropped some dung directly on him.

The bird was horrified.

“This is the end!” he thought.

But something strange happened.

The warm dung slowly began to warm him up.

After a few minutes, the bird started feeling better.

He was so happy that he began singing.

A nearby cat heard the singing.

The cat followed the sound and discovered the little bird buried in the warm dung.

The cat carefully pulled him out, cleaned him off, and then…

ate him.

The little bird had learned three important lessons that day:

Not everyone who puts you in trouble is your enemy.

Not everyone who gets you out of trouble is your friend.

And when you’re warm and happy in a pile of trouble, sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut.
