A husband and wife were about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
Knowing that his wife loved antiques, the husband searched for weeks before finding a beautiful old brass oil lamp.
When he gave it to her, her eyes lit up.
“It’s gorgeous!” she said.
She carefully polished the lamp with a soft cloth, admiring its detailed design.
As she rubbed it, a small puff of dust rose into the air.
The husband laughed.
“I was hoping for a genie.”
His wife smiled.
“If a genie appeared, what would you wish for?”
He thought for a moment.
“I already have everything I need.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Really?”
He nodded.
“A loving family, good health, wonderful memories, and forty happy years with you.”
His wife smiled warmly.
“That’s a pretty good wish already.”
They placed the lamp on a shelf in the living room, where it became a favorite decoration.
Whenever visitors admired it, the husband would joke,
“It may not grant three wishes…”
“…but it reminds us to be thankful for the blessings we already have.”
They both smiled, knowing that the greatest treasure in their home wasn’t the antique lamp—it was the life they had built together over the years.
