Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Unsweetened cocoa powder: 1/2 cup
- Granulated sugar: 1 cup
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup
- Unsalted butter, melted: 1/2 cup
- Large eggs: 2
- Red food coloring: 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and cocoa powder.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the red food coloring and vanilla extract.
- Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Step 6: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Store cooled brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain their fudgy texture.
- For a warm, gooey treat, microwave a brownie square for about 10-15 seconds – but watch closely so it doesn't get too melty!
- Serve these sinisterly delicious brownies with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of raspberry sauce for extra "bite."
- To achieve the perfect moist crumb, avoid overmixing the batter; gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
