Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh button mushrooms, sliced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large skillet, melt the butter with the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Step 2: Add the sliced mushrooms and chopped onion to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their liquid and begin to brown, about 8-10 minutes.
- Step 3: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
- Step 4: Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 5: Bring the mixture to a simmer and continue cooking until the liquid has reduced and thickened slightly, about 3-5 minutes.
- Step 6: Serve the sauteed mushrooms immediately as a side dish or topping.
Notes
- Store leftover sauteed mushrooms in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For best results, reheat the mushrooms in a skillet over medium heat to re-crisp them slightly.
- These mushrooms are fantastic served over grilled steak or as a flavorful addition to burgers.
- Don't overcrowd the pan – cook the mushrooms in batches if necessary to ensure even browning.
