Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups cold water
- 1 cup lemon juice (about 6–8 lemons)
- 1/4 cup lemon zest (optional)
- 4 cups ice
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Combine sliced peaches, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until peaches are softened and the sugar is dissolved (about 10-15 minutes).
- Step 2: Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely. Once cool, mash the peaches slightly with a potato masher or fork to release more of their juices. You can also use an immersion blender for a smoother consistency.
- Step 3: Strain the peach mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove solids. Discard the solids.
- Step 4: Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest (if using), and 4 cups of cold water. Mix well to combine.
- Step 5: Add ice to the pitcher. Stir gently.
- Step 6: Serve immediately, garnished with fresh mint sprigs (optional).
Notes
- Store leftover lemonade in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This lemonade is best served chilled, but can be gently warmed on the stovetop for a cozy twist – just avoid boiling.
- For a fun twist, serve your refreshing peach lemonade in mason jars with colorful straws and a slice of peach.
- To intensify the peach flavor, consider roasting the peaches before making the lemonade; this caramelizes their sugars.
