Delicious homemade nut butters recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups raw nuts (almonds, peanuts, cashews, etc. or a mix)
  • 12 tablespoons neutral oil (peanut, canola, or coconut)
  • 12 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for flavor)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional, for flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional, for flavor)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  2. Step 2: Roast the nuts for 10-15 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant. Let cool slightly.
  3. Step 3: Transfer the nuts to a food processor or high-powered blender. Process until the nuts release their oils and form a butter. This may take several minutes, and you may need to scrape down the sides occasionally.
  4. Step 4: Once the mixture starts to become smooth, add the oil, salt, and any optional sweeteners or flavorings (honey, maple syrup, cinnamon, chocolate chips, vanilla extract).
  5. Step 5: Continue to process until the nut butter reaches your desired consistency, smooth or slightly chunky.
  6. Step 6: Transfer the nut butter to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Store your homemade nut butter upside down in the fridge to help prevent oil separation.
  • If your nut butter firms up too much after chilling, a quick zap in the microwave will restore its creamy texture.
  • Spread your freshly made nut butter on apple slices with a sprinkle of sea salt for a delicious and healthy snack.
  • For richer flavor, try toasting your nuts a little darker than golden; just be careful not to burn them!
