Delicious caramel apple slices recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) 3 large
  • Caramel candies 14 ounces, unwrapped
  • Heavy cream 2 tablespoons
  • Wooden craft sticks 3
  • Toppings of choice (chopped nuts, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc.) Approximately 1 cup total
  • Parchment paper 1 large sheet
  • Vegetable oil spray As needed

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Remove the stems and insert a wooden craft stick firmly into the center of each apple where the stem was.
  2. Step 2: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramel candies and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the caramel is completely melted and smooth. This usually takes 1-2 minutes total. Be careful not to burn the caramel.
  3. Step 3: Dip each apple into the melted caramel, rotating to coat evenly. Lift the apple and allow any excess caramel to drip off.
  4. Step 4: Immediately after dipping, roll the caramel-covered apples in your desired toppings (nuts, sprinkles, chocolate chips, etc.).
  5. Step 5: Place the caramel apple slices onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  6. Step 6: Refrigerate the caramel apple slices for at least 30 minutes to allow the caramel to set before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover caramel apple slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep the apples crisp and the caramel firm.
  • Reheating isn't recommended, as the caramel will melt and the apples might soften; enjoy them chilled!
  • Serve these delightful treats as a fun and interactive dessert at parties or as a special after-school snack.
  • For easier dipping, use a slightly smaller bowl than the apple diameter, and tilt the bowl as you dip to ensure even caramel coverage.
